Autumn art – drawings and paintings

Autumn is starting to glow! The light and trees are changing every day, so I’ve been observing trees on daily walks and sketching at home. It’s such an amazing time of year!

In Martin Gayford’s book A Bigger Message: Conversations with David Hockney, Hockney touches on how much more you notice in nature when drawing it. It’s so true. The more I look closely at nature, the more I see colours and shapes that I used to overlook. This year I’ve been out in nature more than usual and I’ve started noticing more details of seasonal changes.

Here are some of my sketches and paintings from autumn this year and last year, using a combination of fine black pen, marker pen, watercolour brush pens and Inktense pencils.
